Description: Woman In Mind is the story of Susan, a woman slowly losing her grip on reality. She is in a troubled, unhappy marriage to an insufferably smug clergyman. She also has an estranged twenty-year old son who will not speak to his parents and whom Susan has not seen in two years. To cope with her unsatisfactory life, Susan has created a fantasy family with an adoring husband, a handsome younger brother and a devoted daughter. The two halves of her life eventually collide resulting in a heartbreaking breakdown. Despite the play’s rather somber subject, the play is one of Alan Aychbourn’s funniest.

All three plays feature three actors (two men and one woman), and the same actors will appear in all three plays. The men should (ideally) be in their thirties or early forties and the woman should (ideally) be in her late twenties.
